We all recognize the problems in our environment and the responsibility we all have to do something about it. GP&C like many other companies is committed to doing its part in sustaining the quality of our fragile eco system by providing products and product awareness to our customers.
There are several ways the paint industry and Ghaster Painting and Coatings, Inc. provides to you to assist in the common goal of a higher air quality, energy efficient and healthier environment.
- Use no VOC or low VOC paints. VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds which contribute to ground level ozone and photochemical smog, which have harmful effects on human health. Many paint manufacturers offer no or low VOC paint. These paints are for INTERIOR ONLY. At this time there are no exterior paint products with low VOC's. NO VOC PAINTS ARE IDEAL FOR INTERIOR OFFICE, HOSPITAL, SCHOOL AND HOTEL ENVIRONMENTS. THE PAINT IS VIRTUALLY ODOR FREE.
- Specify waterbase paint products over oil-base paints, which must be disposed of and generate hazardous waste.
- There are only a few paint manufacturers who offer a recycled paint product. Reprocessed paints contain a minimum of 20-50% post consumer paint. Be very careful in using any old left over paint mixed together. The age of the paint and the potential for mold growing in left over paint can create more harm than good. USE ONLY A PRE-APPROVED RECYCLED PAINT.
- Ghaster Painting and Coatings, Inc. provides an ENERGY EFFICIENT COATING CALLED "MARATHON" BY UNITED COATINGS. You may remember a recent newsletter regarding this outstanding product. Ghaster Painting and Coatings, Inc. is the only approved applicator of this product in Arizona. "MARATHON" is an exterior waterbase, waterproof coating system that has glass ceramic beads dispersed through the coating to refract heat away from the substrate. This product unlike any standard paint will provide energy efficient surface and MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR A TAX DEDUCTION UNDER THE 2005 ENERGY POLICY ACT.
Ghaster Painting and Coatings, Inc is committed to doing their part in preventing waste by buying the right amount of paint, reducing leftover paint, using cleaning products that are "Green Seal" approved products, continuing the pursuit of becoming more educated in green technology. Going Green may seem to cost a little more money now but it will save not only our environment but the quality of our own personal health in the future.
